“Angry Birds” Movie Has a Huge Marketing Budget

The Angry Birds game comes in all forms, from the original iOS and android game, to Star Wars and Transformers versions, and even variations based on seasons. After Rovio decided to adapt the mobile game for the silver screen, things picked up for the project. But, sadly, sales of the game dropped 73% from last year.

Sony Pictures To Distribute “Angry Birds” Film

Rovio CEO Pekka Rantala is hoping to breathe new life into the franchise with Sony Picture Imageworks at the helm, and they are ready to pump some big bucks into the film’s marketing. The marketing budget will exceed the production budget, which sits at $80 million. To compare with other movies, Avengers had a marketing budget of $100-150 million. As we approach the release in over a year, May 2016, Angry Birds will be just about everywhere we look.

Angry Birds stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad and Danny McBride.

Do you think it will be worth adding those extra marketing dollars? Let us know your thoughts on the Angry Birds movie, now before they tear down our towers!
