Yes, as in at least two more Terminator films, including Genisys. The iconic Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, told TheArnoldFans in an exclusive interview that, of course, he would be filming Terminator 6 next year.
Paramount Pictures had already set release dates for Terminator 6 and Terminator 7 last year, but no casting information came along with those announcements. There’s still no word whether Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor) or Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese) will be back for those sequels. Is it possible that the new Terminator movies could see Kyle Reese survive in the present?
A bit premature, I think, given the significant change-ups in MPAA rating and storyline Genisys is bringing to the franchise. What bigger indicator could there be that studios are afraid to do new things with a franchise than continuing to have the story revolve around the same actor playing the same character that started the franchise 30 years ago?
It is still too early to judge, though. Hopefully, Genisys will be good enough on its own to merit a whole new Terminator trilogy. T6 and T7 are scheduled to portal into theaters May 19th, 2017 and June 29th, 2018.
