Emma Watson Belle in Beauty and the Beast

Emma Watson Welcomes ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Co-Stars

Emma Watson has captured the role of Belle, the book loving, Gaston avoiding brunette we’ve grown to know and love in the Disney animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. Now, Watson has taken to Twitter to welcome her newly cast co-stars in the upcoming, live-action Disney film.

Luke Evans (The Hobbit) has been cast as Gaston, the muscled, egotistical villain who tries to win Belle’s affections. Yeah, not happening Gaston. Evans is an experienced musical theater actor.

Dan Stevens has been cast as the Beast. Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, has all of the ingredients of a Disney leading man. The princely-turned-beastly character was originally voiced by Robby Benson in the 1991 animated film.

Bill Condon, director of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, will be helming the film. Many of the other pivotal characters, such as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere and Cogsworth, have yet to be cast.

Beauty and the Beast will be transforming theater screens sometime after Cinderella dances through theaters on March 13.
