Bryan Singer Teases X-Men Apocalypse Concept Art

Apocalypse is a character that’s enjoyed the visual fluidity and ambiguity of comics especially, at least compared to film. Bryan Singer’s task of bringing the iconic, visually stunning villain to life for the upcoming X-men Apocalypse film is sure to be a challenge. But he’s recently showed us some concept art of the villain’s crucial transformation.

Singer posted some concept art by Grant Major to his Instagram; it appears to be Oscar Isaac stepping into some alien vessel.

Isaac has spoken about the manner in which they would bring Apocalypse to life, saying that it may be a bit different from what fans expect. “Just as Bryan’s done with the other films, I think he seeks to find something a little more interesting than the archetypal aspects of the characters, which work really well in print, but for a film I think you want to see a bit more of the — for lack of a better word — humanity in [Apocalypse]; because ultimately this is a story about humans,” he said.

Ever notice how Supervillains tend to have the most omnipotent-seeming, flashy power sets? I guess that’s just obeying the law of dramatic tension. We’ll have to wait and see until X-men Apocalypse arrives in theaters May 27th, 2016.
