Burnout Successor Will Be Based On The Third One

Last week, I reported on a Burnout successor being worked on by the studio Three Fields Entertainment, which was a studio made by the two founders of the studio that worked on Burnout, Criterion. In that news piece, I made an offhand remark about how I hoped this spiritual successor would use Burnout 3: Takedown as a blueprint. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who felt that way, as according to Three Fields Entertainment’s Twitter account, the new game will based on Burnout 3: Takedown.

After polling fans to see what game they would like to see what game the spiritual successor would  be based on, the studio went to their Twitter account and announced “#ShinyRedSomething will be the spiritual successor to ‘the third one.'” Whether “ShinyRedSomething” is the code name for this new multiplayer racing game or the game’s final name remains to be seen, but there you have it, folks: this spiritual successor to Burnout will be based on Burnout 3: Takedown, considered by many to be the best game in the series.

Right now, there isn’t that much to go on other than that this multiplayer racing game has a 2016 release, but for many fans, myself included, this recent news is definitely welcoming.
