Chewbacca Confirmed in Han Solo Star Wars Movie

I’m sure many Star Wars fans other than myself were hoping for this.

No footage or official statement or anything like that, but The Wrap has the word from Disney CEO Bob Iger that the most famous wookie in the galaxy will be a part of the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie.

Iger got into a discussion about upcoming Star Wars movies at the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet and Telecom Conference yesterday. He mentioned Rogue One, Episode 8 and the Han Solo movie.

Here’s When The Han Solo Movie Will Take Place

“‘Rogue One’ … is about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star,” the Disney boss said. “It takes place right before what was George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘A New Hope.’”

“We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy,” he continued. “And that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there’ll be possibly be more thereafter.”

So that’s that! Han and Chewie the early years! Will they have Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca in the spinoff film or will they get another appropriately tall actor to play the wookie like they are for Han? Peter Mayhew was reportedly making a big announcement himself sometime soon. At any rate, the Han Solo spinoff is scheduled for after Episode 8 in 2018. Still don’t know how I feel about seeing young Han after his death in Episode 7.
