Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, the Asgardian God of Thunder is the latest Avenger to open up about the current state of his contract with Marvel.
In an interview with Collider, Hemsworth revealed that after Age of Ultron, he’s signed up for Thor Ragnarok and Avengers Infinity War Parts 1 and 2.
Marvel Studios has been producing films with the same central cast for a good long while now. The closest other example I can think of is the Harry Potter films. Although one significant difference there is that the Potter films were always going to be a self-contained adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books, meaning an expected end was always there.
Marvel Studios doesn’t have that kind of limit on its material. Hemsworth and Chris Evans in the interview below were both humorously vague about what they would do after their contracts expired. Several of the big name Avengers actors have renewed their contracts before including Robert Downey Jr. But they can’t keep playing these characters forever. Marvel is undoubtedly crafty enough to keep introducing new characters, stories and actors to keep the MCU alive.
Check out the clip from the interview below. In the meantime, Avengers Age of Ultron is out in theaters May 1st.
