Universes will always have indirect and direct lines to other universes out there. The connection between Wolverine and X-Men: Apocalypse is on the verge of sending the two off with a bang, or one really loud boom. Hugh Jackman has starred in seven X-Men films and word has it that he will be returning to the 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse and the 2017 Wolverine 3, despite the unsigned contracts.
The director, James Mangold, and Jackman have been collaborating on story ideas for the upcoming films. One of the ideas that Jackman has been playing with in his head is the Old Man Logan Marvel Comics, and spoiler alert, Wolverine dies! Though, this may not be the case and there are still limitless possibilities to how the story will end.
“You know, I have been speaking to the guys and I am not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on… which is largely framing my answer here, but there’s still a lot unknown about that, actually. There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.”
Fantastic Four opens August 7, 2015. Deadpool slices to theaters February 12, 2016, X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016, Wolverine 3 has yet to have an official title and will drop March 3, 2017. Fantastic Four 2 on July 14, 2017 and the other X-Men film on July 13, 2018. Seems like we’re about to see some action!
