James Gunn has been a busy man with his latest project in partnership with MGM, The Belco Experiment. Filming for that project will begin in June and, in the meantime, the pre-production magic is happening for another movie that Marvel fans are anticipating.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is in development as we speak. Gunn has taken the creative reigns of the sequel, far beyond his role as director. Gunn offered his ideas for the sequel’s storyline and, while those at Marvel loved the story, they also found it a bit of a risk. The first GOTG movie was also a risk since it was such a small comic, and it turned into the 2014 summer blockbuster. Here’s what Gunn had to say on the GOTG 2 script:
“I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week,” Gunn explained via a social media broadcasting application. He then mentioned that the script is “very, very far along.” That exact number, 70 pages.
Other random tidbits that were addressed were some small things such as getting to know the Guardians on a deeper level and that the sequel will be in 3D.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 blasts off May 5, 2017.
