It looks like Sony might be looking to give new life to the PlayStation Vita, as a new design was trademarked in Japan for the handheld device. Twitter was where the trademark originated from, and gives gamers a look at what might be coming their way. Something that comes as a surprise — or maybe not much of a surprise at all, is that the new design parallels last year’s 2000 model. One of the noticeable differences so far is that there appears to be an HDMI port.

The new re-design was described as “a portable LCD screen game machine controller”, which means that the OLED won’t be making a comeback this time around. Whether or not there are more features that differentiate this re-design from the 2000 model is yet to be seen. With the drop of that model coming out last year, do gamers even need a re-design already? Let us know what you’d like to see from this trademark in the comments below!
