Project Ukulele has been in the works for some time now via Playtonic Games. We never knew what it was, but anticipated something to be said. Just a month and a half ahead of E3, Yooka-Laylee is here. The new 3D platformer is by the game makers behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country.
Yooka is the adorable chameleon; Laylee is the bat, both of them holding their roles as Banjo and Kazooie, or Donkey Kong and Diddy, depending on how you want to look at it. They each of their own unique abilities and will also be able to work together to fight enemies and get through the worlds that lay in front of them.
Yooka uses his tongue as a grappling hooks and Laylee can pick Yooka up and travel from place to place for a short time. Then there is Laylee’s sonar blast. The duo has a variety of moves as well.
There will be a Kickstarter beginning tomorrow, May 1 and those who support the movement will be able to grab a finished copy of the game for $15/£10. There will be stretch goals from the sounds of it, giving a soundtrack, books and a special ’64-bit’ edition. If they company receives the proper funding, the game will be released on multiple platforms; Windows, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U. More details will be revealed tomorrow.
