Variety has the dossiers on a host of big name actors that Marvel is rumored to be considering to fill the boots, cape, goatee, whatever you prefer, of Doctor Strange. Six in total. The shortlist includes Jared Leto, Ethan Hawke, Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew McConaughey, and Ewan McGregor.
Marvel seems to be setting its sights on some seriously big name, critically acclaimed actors, particularly Leto, Gyllenhaal and McConaughey. According to Variety, all six actors are either reportedly still in the discussion for the role or actively pursuing it themselves.
Personally, I think I’d be most excited for McGregor take on the role. Sure it would be great for nerdom to adopt another Oscar-winning A-lister like McConaughey for such a fan favorite role. But Doctor Strange could be the perfect role McGregor to return to prominence in geek cinema.
