We are truly obsessed with the shambling, brain craving undead if the cinematic adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Jane Austen parody “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is going to finally begin shooting this month. Especially if Matt Smith, the actor behind the 11th incarnation of The Doctor, is joining the cast as Mr. Collins.

The major twist that the novel introduced to Jane Austen’s arguably most famous book is that instead of wanting to marry for love and honesty, not for status and wealth, Liz Bennet wants to help defend the English countryside from the hordes of zombies. Lily James plays the re-imagined heroine, and the rest of the cast includes Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote and Douglas Booth.
I can’t be the first literature student who’s intensely interested to know what 18th/19th Century Madame Austen would have thought of this popular adaptation of her work.
