Entertainment Weekly has a new batch of high res photos straight from the set of Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens.
Several are set on the mysterious new world of Jakku and prominently feature Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega). Stormtroopers of the first order are also present on Jakku apparently lead by Kylo Ren. Who’s got BB8 strapped in a net and what is that creature riding? C3PO and R2D2 appear together. The former’s red colored mismatched arm likely won’t be explained until the movie premiers.
Villains Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) get their own portrait shots. One of the most interesting details to me about Hux’s photo here is that he seems to be wearing his coat without his arms through the sleeves; their just hanging off his shoulders. What could be going on in this scene that he could afford such an informal dress choice?
J.J. himself also appears in several shots interacting with the cast and other crew members. I sincerely hope Jakku ends up feeling distinct from Tattooine in the films because we don’t need two arid desert planets as backwater trading hubs on the cusp of imperial influence that rear unlikely protagonists.
