Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens may have wrapped up shooting this past week, but Disney and Lucasfilm are already putting the famous studio to use for another new Star Wars movie. According to THR, the next Star Wars movie to be shot there will in fact be the first of the standalone spinoff films that Disney and Lucasfilm have been so tightlipped about.
This first spinoff will be directed by Gareth Edwards and is set for release on December 16th, 2016, as of now. Pinewood Shepperton CEO Ivan Dunleavy announced the new project underway at the studio at the annual CBI conference in London.
Looks like there’s plenty more Star Wars on the way.
