Orlando Bloom, who’s enjoying the promotion of The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies, had the chance to talk with IGN about his potential involvement in Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Ironic, I think. Last the Pirates movies left William Turner, he had the undead-ness and responsibilities of Davey Jones thrust upon him, so he is technically dead and figuratively telling a tale.
Anyway, Bloom is still in talks to join the cast.
“I’m not entirely sure that [I’ll be back] just yet, but there are talks,” he said. “Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son.
“I’m of course Davey Jones now, so I’m down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I’m rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won’t look anything like me. [Gestures to face] Get all gnarly.”
Johnny Depp will of course be back as Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush is rumored to return as Barbosa and Jarvier Bardem is likely to play the Villain this go round as Captain Brand, a ghost pirate who seeks revenge on Sparrow for the death of his brother. Is there anybody’s bad side that Jack Sparrow hasn’t gotten on?
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) will direct Pirates 5, which is set to shoot in Australia in early 2015 for a July 2017 release.
….. Three were enough. There, I said it.
Although Bloom in a fatherly role as the shepherd of the dead at sea could be interesting.
