DC does have a line of movies releasing over the next six years and Shazam is one of them. However, Shazam may not be connected directly to the DC Universe. The film will be co-produced by WB and New Line Cinema and New Line president Toby Emmerich stated that Shazam is, “not a Justice League character”.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently came out on Twitter since he is playing Black Adam and confirmed that there will be fun on set of Shazam.
Decoding his tweet, there will be fun with Black Adam and by the hashtag, Shazam could very well be independent from the storyline and have its own tone. It could very well be a New Line/DC property, but that shouldn’t stop Dwayne from having some fun and create a film that could be the way it should be when the movie hits theaters.
From the sounds of things, DC will wait to see what happens with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice before going ahead and getting Shazam under way.
