Simon Pegg: Next ‘Star Trek’ Film Will Be More Like the Original Series

Simon Pegg, actor, writer and British person, recently spoke to Comic Book Resources about the next Star Trek film. In the course of the conversation, Pegg said that the third film in the reboot franchise will attempt to veer closer to the spirit of the original TV series.

“I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show,” said Pegg, who plays Scotty in the films and is co-writing the latest. “And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”

Pegg was brought on board to help write the upcoming Star Trek film after conversations with producer Bryan Burk and director of the first two films, J.J. Abrams. The new film is directed by Justin Lin (Fast Five), and the villain is rumored to be played by Idris Elba.
