So now that Sony and Marvel have their new arrangement, all sorts of questions about the next Spider-Man film(s) are begged.
Andrew Garfield has bowed out, so who will play the next Peter Parker? According to Variety, “Maze Runner” and “Teen Wolf’s” Dylan O’Brien is being considered, as well as “Perks of Being a Wallflower’s”, “Percy Jackson’s”, and “Fury’s” Logan Lerman.
Neither of the actors have been approached yet reportedly, but the plan seems to be that Peter Parker’s awkward high school experience at Midtown will be the setting of the new Spider-Man movie, fighting crime while out of the classroom. It’s also reportedly possible that the African American/Puerto Rican Miles Morales may be the man behind the new Spider-Man.
It appears that Spider-Man will be the most frequently incarnated mainstream superhero of the new millennium. Let’s hope Sony and Marvel can strike a critically and commercially successful chord when the new franchise launches in 2017.
