It looks like there’s going to be a forty player cap on Star Wars: Battlefront, according to a post made my Associate Press. In addition, the post also confirmed that November 17th — the leaked date of the then hopeful release of the title, will be when Star Wars: Battlefront launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Players will be able to play as Boba Fett, and Darth Vadar as well as participate in battles that feature both the Rebel Alliance and Galatic Empire Forces.
Niklas Fegraeus, design director of the game, said, “You can storm in as the Dark Lord himself… You can wield a lightsaber. You can Force choke the rebel scum, which is fun. Basically, you are the boss of the battle. This means that you, as Vader, can lead your team to victory – if you play well.” Players can also test their skills at flying, as they’ll be able to pilot TIE Fighters, X-Wings, and the Millennium Falcon. There will also be a free downloadable level available two weeks before Star Wars: Battlefield drops called Battle of Jakku — a setting featured in the latest trailer, that will allow gamers to see what happened after Return of the Jedi.
Last, but certainly not least, DICE’s general manager Patrick Bach told Eurogamer that there would be no campaign mode in Star Wars: Battlefront, instead players will be able to play offline split-screen or co-op online in order to tackle “crafted missions”. In battle, gamers will also be able to switch from first-person to third-person view as they see fit. Even with the forty player cap, there are an array of game modes within Star Wars: Battlefront and each has their own cap. Customization will also come into play, allowing gamers to change up their characters, choose what gear they want, as well as weapons and abilities — but don’t think that you’ll be able to turn Darth Vadar into the infamous Hello Kitty Darth Vadar that made it’s way around the internet before.
