A Storm Cosplay That Has Us Thunderstruck

While we may be envious of superheroes and their abilities, their powers often come with a cost. Loss and hardships are no mystery as the vast majority, even our favorites such as Batman and Superman, find themselves orphaned. Storm is no stranger to this and lost her parents at the tender age of five due to a plane crashing into their house where she miraculously survived, but her parents were not so lucky. Though she was originally believed to be a goddess due to her mutant powers by a local tribe in Kenya, her homeland where she is the descendant of an ancient line of African priestesses, all which have white hair, blue eyes, and the potential to wield magic, she comes to find out she is in fact a mutant.

While still living in her tribe, Storm, Ororo at the time, came to face a powerful opponent of the mutant group called The X-Men. When they believed they had defeated Deluge, Ororo once more returned to her normal life as being a Goddess for the tribe. However, months later, Professor Xavier, leader of the X-Men, was forced to tell Ororo the truth behind her powers, that she was a mutant and they needed her help, along with the others on the team, to protect the world as well as her tribe. Her powers of atmokinesis, the ability to manipulate the weather to aid her, as well as to manipulate energy to directly help her by projecting weather through her body make her one strong opponent. Her power over air allows her to fly as well as carry others, or use it to crush her opponents.

Should I have seen Maki Rolle descend from the clouds, I would have mistaken her for a goddess as well. Her iconic white hair frames a goddess-esque face and her black latex one piece and thigh high boots that we’ve all come to love is accented with white trim and a long cape to billow in the wind. Her poses are enough to strike the fear of god(dess) into us. This is one storm we would rather stay calm.
