100 Issues Of Nintendo Power Are Now On The Internet Archive

1 min read
If you're like me, chances are you were a subscriber to a little known gaming magazine called Nintendo Power. While it doesn't seem like much now in this age of the smartphones and tablets, at the time it was a huge deal, as it was the closest many Nintendo fans such as myself could get first looks, reviews, and the all important walkthroughs of some of out favorite games. Sadly, the era of gaming magazines seems to have passed, as the Internet has made it possible now to find walkthroughs, previews, reviews, etc. at a much faster and frequent rate then we've ever been able to in the past. But in an ironic twist of fate, the very thing that ultimately ended magazines such as Nintendo Power is now helping to revive it and keep it alive, as the Internet Archive has over 100 issues of Nintendo Power on their archive that you can read right now.

Why Nintendo Refuses to Annualize Their Franchises

1 min read
Nintendo has a plethora of beloved franchises, ranging from household names like Mario and Pokemon, to niche franchises such as Fire Emblem and F-Zero. But despite the popularity of these franchises, it seems that when it comes to getting games in these beloved franchises, fans are left to wait for years at a time. While franchises like Madden and Call of Duty get yearly releases, Nintendo fans are often stuck with one game from a particular series a console generation, if that at all. And according to Scott Moffitt, Vice President of Sales at Nintendo of America, there's a good reason for that.

It’s-a Meagan Marie: Super Mario Cosplay

1 min read
These days you would be hard pressed to find a gamer, new and old alike, that hasn't heard of that little Italian plumber and played through many of his shenanigans. From the first time you see that flag drop at the end of the level you just owned, to coming at us in 3D, Mario has one of the most recognizable faces in the gaming world. The little mustachioed warrior has provided countless hours of fun and fury (seriously, the princess is STILL in another castle?!) and continues to be one of Nintendo's main powerhouse sellers. It's no surprise that folks would love him so much that they want to do amazing Mario portrayals.

This Metroid Samus Aran Cosplay is Extremely Seductive

Samus Aran is a video game icon, and since her epic debut in the retro Nintendo series, Metroid, she has appeared in multiple other games, as well. One of the most prominent video games she has appeared in recently is Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, which made waves in the video game community for its epic roster of characters to play as and action-packed gameplay.

A Tribute To Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata

1 Comment·8 min read
On Saturday July 11th, 2015, Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata passed away due to complications with a bile duct tumor that he was diagnosed and treated for in 2014. While this is but a sobering reminder that no one can escape the specter of death, the loss of Iwata hits close to home for many people, myself included. When I was five, my late aunt and her husband got me and my sister our first home console despite my parents objecting to it: the Super Nintendo. From that point on, I would be a Nintendo fan for life, asking specifically for Nintendo games and systems every Christmas and birthday, playing them and having a blast with them from Super Mario Bros. to The Legend of Zelda, and from beginning to end, I would have a huge grin on my face.
