ZeniMax Studios, developer of The Elder Scrolls Online, has been forward and upfront with gamers, allowing them to know that the title was not going to include an in-game auction house. The reason behind this would be to protect The Elder Scroll Online’s strongest gear. While some might have been bummed that this would be happening, the developer has decided to make up for the lack of an in-game auction house by allowing players to have a marketplace of sorts on the TESO Elite Forums. There, gamers can buy, sell, or trade items with one and other all the forums require to do so is that players post their item, state whether they want to buy, sell, or trade it, state their username and what system they will be playing on.
Nick Konkle, TESO gameplay designer, told Shoddy Cast, “You don’t necessarily want to do a global auction house for a game with one giant server because that generally leads to all the best gear being available at very, very cheap prices… A lot of times that can trivialize the game. You cannot have a healthy economy when there are no restrictions on getting the best stuff in the game.”
The Elder Scrolls Online released earlier this month for both Mac and PC, versions for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 slated for a June release.
