J.J. Abrams is working on editing the recently wrapped Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the other two installments will be filming back to back before too much longer. With Abrams out of the director’s seat for Star Trek, the sci-fi mastermind will just have to be replaced. Of course, this is a grain of salt that we will have to ingest but the burn should go away soon.
Robert Orci stepped down from the director’s seat and Jonathan Frakes was not shy about wanting to film the upcoming movie. Edgar Wright is also joining the list of potential directors that could be helming Star Trek 3. Other directors include Morten Tyldum who filmed The Imitation Game, followed by Safe House director Daniel Espinosa. Justin Lin, who took part in a couple of the Fast & Furious projects, is also interesting in taking on the project. Lastly, Duncan Jones is also up for grabs since he is working on Warcraft. No one could compare to Abrams but time can only tell who will be taking on the official role.
Star Trek 3 will be talked about for some time and until then; we will have to ponder the idea of who will be taking on the film.
