Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman

Wonder Woman Movie May Be Set in Multiple Time Periods

Details have been pretty scarce as to the plot of DC and Warner Brother’s upcoming Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot. Now, if Den of Geek is to be believed, we can expect to see several different eras over the course of the film.

Their anonymous source claims to have learned about three distinct time periods that the action will be set in. The first is the idyllic island of Themyscira, the home of Wonder Woman’s native culture in the 1940s. We’ll also get to see World War 1 circa 1916, though there’s no apparent explanation of which era will introduce Wonder Woman. The third setting will be the present day when the film will tie itself into other events in the DC movieverse, including Justice League Part 1.

It’ll be nice for the DC movies to get a more diverse palate of settings in their films. Perhaps director Patty Jenkins can offer an appreciable contrast to Zack Snyder’s gritty washed-out aesthetic. This dynamic certainly sounds plausible, though I think we may have to wait until a trailer arrives before we can be sure this multiple time period setting is the case.

Wonder Woman strides into theaters June 23rd, 2017.
